It is a game of wits, a race against time, and a chance to step into the world of one of Ireland’s greatest scientists.

The Man Behind the Story

Robert Boyle was born at Lismore Castle in 1627. He is considered the father of modern chemistry, famous in school textbooks for Boyle’s Law – a fundamental principle in physics that describes the relationship between gas pressure and volume. But he was more than a name in a textbook. He was a man of curiosity and passion, a scientist who asked the big questions and was not afraid to seek the answers.

The escape room at the Heritage Centre is inspired by this remarkable man. It is set in his study, a place of learning and discovery. But in this story, something has gone wrong.

The Plot

Robert Boyle has been busy. He has been trying to solve some of the 17th century’s most puzzling scientific questions. His work has attracted attention, not all of it welcome.

Vincenzo Falcone is a fraud. He believes that Boyle has discovered something extraordinary – a mysterious ingredient that can turn base metals into gold and give humans the gift of immortality. Falcone wants this secret for himself.

Boyle is away on important business in the city today. Falcone knows this. He will be here in sixty minutes to search Boyle’s study for his secret alchemy box. He will take everything.

Your task is simple. You have one hour to find the alchemy box before Falcone arrives. Search the study for hidden clues. Work together as a team. Find the keys and the codes. Get out in time.

The Experience

The Robert Boyle Escape Room is available daily at a variety of times. Teams of two to six people are welcome. The game is suitable for all ages, from fifteen years upwards. Families, work colleagues, friends – anyone looking for a challenge will find something here.
